In 2021 I co-founded Andraste. Our goal is to increase sustainability in orbit by providing solutions for debris collection and commercialisation and in-orbit servicing to extend satellite life.
So far we have developed our products to prototypes, attended various courses and conferences to gauge the market and suitability including being part of the UKSpace Agency Accelerator program.
Currently we are looking for funding to test our solutions and qualify them in situ.
Over the years I have developed my machining and fabrication skills to help with my projects at work and in my personal life. I've mostly worked with aluminium and steel. But I also have a lot of experience with 3D printing, laser cutting and finishing techniques.
I started to learn these skills at university and carried them on into my career where it has helped my design solutions and have an appreciation for a design for manufacture approach.
I've been able to create a few products with industry as a commercial partner. A couple being an automated car which used an AI model to pathfind and build routes useful for deliveries.
Another product was to create an automated innoculator and UV-C light. This needed 0.5mm placement accuracy to stop cross contamination.
One day I wanted toast in whilst lying in bed. Instead of asking my long suffering partner to make me some or do it myself, I thought wouldn't it be great if it could just be delivered right to you? So, the ToasterDrone was born and yes it does fly and is programmed to automatically load and toast 2 slices of bread on every charge.
Last year myself and my partner bought a Victorian terrace house in East London. Since then we have taken it back to brick, addressed underlying issues and been building our DIY skills to design and renovate and achieve out dream home.
So far we have updated the bathroom. We fixed the floor downstairs including putting in new joists, adding insulation and new subfloor. I also cleared the garden and shared alleyway to get it useable and installed a new wire fence.
Currently we are finishing the plastering and electrics which have needed to be mostly rewired due to safety issues we discovered.
I also like to be creative, in my spare time I play a tabletop game called Warhammer 40,000 which I picked up in 2020. Alongside this I enjoy playing boardgames and taking part in TTRPGs such as Dungeons and Dragons, I currently am a Dungeon/Game Master for a Star Wars RPG game. This allows me to build up my creativity skills alongside, communication and management.
In addition I also enjoy doing creative things with my partner such as cooking/baking classes or ice sculpture making.
